Christmas with Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan (Soof-yawn) Stevens is quickly becoming one of my favorite musicians. At the very least, you could say that his music is unique. But at the same time, it is very familiar and comfortable. Perhaps I like him because of his frequent use of the banjo -- in my opinion, one of the more romantic instruments.* To top it all off, Sufjan is a Christian that truly is musically talented. I like his off-the-wall style.
Concerning his connection with Christmas, he has a five-disc box set that creates the right mood for the season. While you will find several traditional carols, you will also find songs that do not seem quite so Christmas-y like "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing."

*For proof of the banjo's romantic qualities listen to "Holiday in Spain" by the Counting Crows or "The Spoon" by Dave Matthews Band.
